William “Bill” Lynn Howard, 88, of Marked Tree departed this life on Saturday, June 6, 2026. He was born on September 20, 1937, to Gaines and Viola White Howard in Savannah, Tennessee.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Glen, Walter and Paul Howard and one sister: Barbara Vaughn.
Bill is survived by his wife of sixty-two years: Martha Howard of the home, son: Rick Howard of Nashville, Tennessee, daughter: Pamela Dawson of Marked Tree, Arkansas, grandson: Sloan Dawson of Marked Tree, Arkansas, and his cherished pet: Rambo.
Bill attended Marked Tree Church of God and lived his life guided by his faith and devotion to his family. He had a deep love for music and was gifted with both song and guitar. For many years, he shared his talents as a member of the gospel group, Gospel Express, touching many hearts through music. He retired from TVA Fossil Plant, where he worked as a journalist machinist and tool and die maker. Following retirement, he enjoyed working in his machine shop located behind his home. An avid fisherman and college football fan, Bill found pleasure in life’s simple pleasures. Nothing brought him more happiness than his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend who treasured every moment spent with those he loved. Known for his quick wit and unforgettable sense of humor, Bill loved making people laugh. He had a vocabulary all his own, often inventing funny words to replace original words. Even during difficult times, he found humor. One of his family’s favorite memories was Christmastime, when Bill would sing this funny song to his children, “Santa Looks a lot Like Daddy.” This special moment will be cherished for a lifetime. Bill was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
