Ouida Lewis

November 23, 1931 — July 25, 2019

Ouida Lewis, 87, of Lepanto, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  She was born on November 23, 1931 in Lepanto, Arkansas to Humphrey Hogan and Tilda Elizabeth Martin.

She spent her days caring for others and helping her family fulfill their dreams.  She was a loving wife to J.C. Lewis for 70 years.  She worked beside him at the grocery store they owned together, drove his bus route when he was transitioning from store to post office hours.  She cooked 3 meals a day for her family, did alterations and worked later at Bindursky Brothers Men’s Store and Portis Clothing Store.  She was a member of the Lepanto Church of Christ.  She loved to be around family and friends and laugh.  You could always find her sitting on the couch with a phone to her ear and a curling iron in her hand.  She would talk and curl for hours.  She was a ferocious card player, and might have changed the rules in a few games.  She was known as Che to her grandchildren and everyone else that knew her well.  She and J.C. traveled in their motor home for many years with her sister, brother, and in-laws.  Her strongest devotion was to her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, J.C. Lewis, her brother, and one sister.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by: one son: Rick Lewis of Lepanto, two daughters: Karen Bradshaw of Centerton and Judy Stem of Paragould, one sister: Bonnie Shinall of Mason, TN and one cousin, who was like a sister: Georgia Neal of Batesville, five grandchildren: Karrie Arbuckle, Brent Bradshaw, Chase Stem, Chelsea Jennings, and Lindsey Stem and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 29, 2019, at 11:00 am at Delancey-Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the care of Delancey-Murphy Funeral Home, Lepanto, Arkansas.
