John Dennis McGuire, Sr.

John Dennis McGuire, 70, of Manila, Arkansas, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late William and Margaret McGuire and was a lifelong resident of Manila. He graduated from Manila High School in 1973 and spent the next 38 years as a devoted employee and hardworking machine operator for American Greetings in Osceola.

John was a faithful member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Manila. He attended every Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday night service until his health began to decline. When he was not working or spending time with his family, he could often be found surrounded by his theology books, his Bible, and his extra-large three-ring binder, carefully making notes and studying in preparation for what he considered his life’s mission — winning as many souls to the Lord as he could.

John desired above all else that everyone he encountered would come to know Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins and who loves and cares for us. His hope was that Heaven would be crowded. There was nothing in this life that John loved more than the Lord.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Karla. Their loyalty and love for one another remained steadfast through every season of life. When John became bedridden, it was his loving wife who faithfully cared for him and honored his wish to spend his final days at home.

He is also survived by his son, John (Priscilla) McGuire of Manila, and his daughter, Holly (Daniel) Hester of Paragould; three beloved granddaughters, Harleigh, Hannah, and Hallie, whom he loved dearly and longed to take on walks, teach to ride bikes, and watch grow; one brother, Mike McGuire (Sue) of Jonesboro; and sister, Jo Karen Ball of Paragould.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Perry and Jan Oliver.
