Gilbert "Hal" Smith

Gilbert “Hal” Smith, 65, of Marked Tree, Arkansas departed this life on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born on January 11, 1960, in Memphis, Tennessee to James “Pete” Nelson and Wona Mae Locke Smith.

Hal was of the Methodist faith, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, he loved sharing stories from his time in the Navy. A devoted college football fan, he especially cheered for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He also enjoyed watching old Westerns and military movies.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother: James Scott.

Hal is survived by one son: Brayden Smith of San Francisco, California, two sisters: Nell Nash of Payneway and Kathy Haynes of Paragould, one granddaughter: Zoey Smith of San Francisco, California and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 10:00a.m. at Marked Tree Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Delancey Funeral Home in Marked Tree.
