Gerald O’Brien, 81, of Marked Tree, Arkansas departed this life on Friday, October 1, 2021, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  He was born on April 22, 1940, in Trumann, Arkansas to Mervin and Mildred Meeks O’Brien.  He was a member of Marked Tree First Baptist Church, a National Guard Veteran, and a retired body shop manager.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Shelby Glaze.

Gerald is survived by his wife of sixty years: Peggy Nester O’Brien,  five daughters: Keri Hayse of Marked Tree, Arkansas, Christy Burke (Michael) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, April Haycraft of Marked Tree, Arkansas, Jordan Thompson (Ron) of Trumann, Arkansas and Devan Austin (Justin) of Osceola, Arkansas, one brother: Norman O’Brien (Melba) of Batesville, Arkansas, one sister: Sharon Box of Trumann, Arkansas, four grandchildren: Sydney Pearson (Tyler), Skylar Burke, Clayton Haycraft, and  Emily Haycraft, six great-grandchildren: Molli Claire Austin, Cash Thompson, Beckham Austin, Michael Travis Pearson, Hayse Thompson and John Leo Dewerff.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. and visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Delancey-Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree, Arkansas.

Interment will follow funeral service at Marked Tree Cemetery, Marked Tree, Arkansas.
