Gary Lynn Humphreys

Gary Lynn Humphreys of Dyess, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, in Monette, Arkansas, at the age of 80. Born on April 12, 1945 to James Franklin Humphreys and Sudie May Bell Humphreys, Gary was a proud native of Dyess who lived a life rooted in hard work, compassion, and service. He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran. His dedication to service was marked by courage, resilience, and integrity, and he received an honorable discharge following his time in the military. After returning home, Gary continued to live a life of purpose and generosity. He loved his family farm, found joy in building and construction, and took pride in working outdoors. His kindness extended to all living things — he devoted his garage to caring for stray cats and even built a chicken coop to give refuge to wondering chickens. He spent countless hours in his yard, picking up pecans, and sharing time and stories with family and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Alex Waynne Humphreys, Lonnie Hulon Humphreys, Herschel Humphreys, Jerry Humphreys, and Danny Ray Humphreys; three sisters: Betty Murline Burrows, Syble Rae Daniel, and Corkey Wilson; and his brother-in-law, Charles Parnell. He is survived by his son, Brian Humphreys of Orlando, Florida; his former wife, Ann Humphreys of Tyronza, Arkansas; two sisters, Connie Frey (Kurt) of Kersey, Pennsylvania, and Gennie Parnell of Ripley, Mississippi; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Delancey Funeral Home in Lepanto, Arkansas. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Brother Raymond Routon. Interment will follow at Potter Memorial Cemetery. Gary will be remembered for his strength, humility, and the quiet kindness that touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and compassion lives on in those he leaves behind.
